Oh hey right
These gradient maps I use for the black and white comics so people are more likely to read them (statistically this is true, I find) are added after the fact, and I went erring on a color I haven’t used[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…

I’ve lived for the last seven years with port windows. I hate them, so so much. Luckily I no longer live in the northern midwest, because if I had port windows I wouldn’t be living in the midwest.
The entire surface of the Earth could be your kitchen and you’d still not be able to find a place to put your cutting board without having to send a bunch of shit to the moon.
I’ve already designed much of Wistare’s living space, but I will not reveal the shocking conclusion to this question right now.
Starting to number my pages in the titles because I’m starting to get scared I’m going to repeat a page title and I don’t know how that’ll mess things up when I do.
I’ve had some form of insomnia or another since I was at least 3 so all of my characters have weird sleeping habits.
You can take one look at this site and know I don’t know how to program, so I don’t know if this is actually good.
Relieved that people on social media exclusively gave me softball questions with regards to mentioning programming in the last page.
I’m moving right after I finish posting this comic, so I have no clue when chapter 11 will start. Also I haven’t molded it into an actual working story yet, it just has a beginning and end and then a[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Any time you hear people tell some beleaguered group to “if you don’t like it just move!” remind them that moving sucks. We just moved and I’ve barely been able to stand up the last few days. And we only[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I can pretend that I didn’t post the back cover of one chapter and the front cover of another in the same week, months after the previous page because the next comic needs to be staggered by one page so[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Something I didn’t do when I started making the gradient mapped grayscale comics is make sure they weren’t overlapping too much. They do at a few points, but there wasn’t a predominantly violet one. If you were wondering about my[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
A dialog about “perfection is the enemy of good” went through four characters in six chapters before it landed on Tisl in this one.
I’m going to be away next week and I’ll see if I can work ahead enough to schedule pages, but if not, I’ll post them later.
For what it’s worth, I have thought about how my comic has talking animal people, and have decided that cat people do not generally produce the kind of dander another sentient creature would be allergic to, but they ARE weirded[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
The thing about having a comic that is meant to be read as a complete story is that sometimes you have to delay posts because you need two pages to be read in close proximity to one another. I also[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I don’t have all of my old drafts any more, since I tend to rewrite on the page, but I’m fairly confident there was an entire chapter that had to be rewritten and paced around Tisl’s unwillingness to apologize. And[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Is “auto-magically” something someone’s child said by mistake and now people use it seriously in documentation?
I’m still a month out from finishing this chapter here, which is great because I have no idea how I’m going to post the next chapter. It’s a slightly different format. We’ll see. I know how it’s SUPPOSED to be[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I don’t know if I’ll do a chapter without Shelley, like I have with Dexter and Jessica, but you have to give characters an out if you want to.
You’re not just getting old wrestling deep cuts in this comic, you’re getting MODERN ones too. When I compile the collections, don’t be super surprised if this set of pages has full backgrounds. They take a little bit to[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I don’t remember what this was meant to set-up later. I’ll use this information for something eventually. Sorry to reveal that some of these random lore interludes are just throwing things at the wall.
The first pass of the complete story of chapter 12 is done, at last. It was originally meant to be chapter 4, and each chapter was meant to be 24 pages long, no more no less. Anyway chapter 12 looks[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I debated with myself about how to approach posting this, but: I’m going to start uploading my comic as it’ll appear in the collection, eventually culminating in the posting of chapter 12. However, that’s not the only new content. Starting[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I’m excited to show you chapters 1 and 2 again as they’ll appear in the book. I’m completely redoing this one, and I’m not quite as finished as I’d hope, but I’ve got a few weeks of updates to bide[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
This page is no longer a nightmare to navigate, if you were wondering. Also if you’re wondering – this is page 11 because of the preface and the table of contents. I’m not actually sure if the table of contents[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
There’s reasons for various design changes over the course of the first book – Shelley’s hair dye changing, Tisl’s leaves falling out and growing just a little taller, Wistare no longer having access to her hair care routine. But Jess’[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Full disclosure: I do not think I had settled on a name for Dexter until after I had started publishing this comic. I may have been midway through writing chapter 2 when I thought of the naming convention Dexter’s mom[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I realized that since I’m going to offer the digital collection for pretty cheap, I’m fine indexing the color of this on the site and it looking a little dull. I prefer it over jpg artifacting, personally.
In canon Shelley uses the good f-word interchangeably with “um” as many people from North Western Illinois do.
On Friday I went to the courthouse and filed a petition to have my name legally changed. There’s more paperwork to follow later, obviously, but I’m extremely excited. I’ve said it before, but I’ve been using this comic to compartmentalize[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I was so confident in my new page numbers that it didn’t occur to me that I might have to add one at some point and it’s already off from book to site. So that’s fun!
Technically speaking, Shelley has been largely reactive after this point in the comic, so she’s not lying here.
I don’t know if I’ve ever shared this fact here, but before I settled on Penelope as my name, I was strongly considering Shelley. But I really wanted a name that could be shortened, and lengthening Shelley to Michelle for[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Listen to the full cassette here I was planning on posting the redone chapter 2, but because of a pending legal name change, I’m going to wait. I want my copyright notice to be less hidden. I want to sign[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
